OCC History
In March 2007, Clay Enos was on photography assignment in Southern Mexico with a handful of specialty coffee professionals for a unique coffee-buying trip. New to the coffee industry, he was wide-eyed when he heard about historically low coffee prices that put communities at risk and the lack of market information that hindered farmers from getting fair prices for their hand-selected organic coffee beans. Yet, he also saw the relationships between these buyers and the growers in Mexico as powerful tools for change. He was hooked.

That week, he committed to start the Organic Coffee "Cartel", sell specialty organic coffee, and use the money to fund charitable causes all while having fun, being creative, and thumbing his nose at conventional branding and business practices. 

Relationship Coffee
Our specialty organic coffees connect you to far-off regions of the world, and to the personalities behind them. Unlike so many mass-produced beverages, our specialty organic coffee, like fine wine, allows for a direct relationship with people and places. And the OCC, as roasters, run our business on those nurtured relationships. We know and respect our farmers. We take pride in the idea that you can honor yourself with better coffee and by extension honor everyone who made that cup possible.

The Art
OrganicCoffee.com was born of creative minds who saw an opportunity to tap coffee's rituals and relationships as a vehicle for artistic expression. We are inspired by how much coffee means to our customers. To celebrate that, every bag of coffee is sleeved in a numbered edition, collectible print. With coffee quality and respectful business practices assured, each time you choose an OCC coffee it holds the potential to be a wonderful, exotic, fresh, and satisfying cup enhanced by a work of art.

A Generous Cartel
Don't be afraid of the "Cartel" in our name. We're just having fun with its implied fearsomeness. We are duty-bound to do good using unapologetic capitalism to fuel our efforts. The more we make, the more we give away. 51% of the company's profits are donated to coffee-related non-profits. Fun!
