Such glowing reviews for this product I had to try it. Yet I am now 0 for 3 and have still yet to be able to see if this product is as good as the reviews state.
I will not be trying a fourth time!
First arrived and had a bent shaft and the top part where shaft goes in was cracked.
Second one arrived. Same bent shaft and the top, plastic part was far more then cracked. It was cracked in to two seperate pieces.
3rd one arrived and all looked good. 'Attempted to use it' but on the very first try and the very first plunge, the top part that was messed up on the first 2 units formed a crack that went all the way around the cap/press lid and when pulling the plunger back out, it just fell apart in 2 pieces, similar to how my 2nd one arrived.
The worst part of this is in each case, LIQUID PLANET did not care. You should see the e-mail responses they sent me..not sure if I am allowed to post them here, but I did show them to amzn, and amzn was aware of some of them since they were done thru amzn's website.
Their responses to me were horrible. Once again, AMZN saved the day.
I cant testify as to if this is a good product. The reviews are great, but I got 3 units, 2 of which were broken on arrival and 1 which broke on my first try.....And the company that sold them, was horrible in trying to rectify this.....if ANYBODY could see the e-mail responses they sent me, they would never spend a dime with this company.....They literally told me "too bad..we will not respond to any further correspondence from you"....AMZN was SHOCKED to see that response and promptly rectified it......
May be a great product....hard to argue with the positive reviews...but I will not be trying this one a 4th time because I will never do biz with LIQUID PLANET ever again and frankly, in looking at the 3 broken top cap/lid press, I can see why they broke and do not see them holding up. The rest of the unit looked nice.....sturdy stainless.....looks very solid....but that top is nothing but a flimsy and I mean very flimsy piece of plastic....get rid of that top and get a better more sturdy one that will hold up..find a different seller then LIQUID PLANET..and we may have a 5 star winner. The 3 broken flimsy plastic tops and the HORRIFYING CUSTOMER SERVICE from liquid planet, make me want to give this a negative 5 stars....
The Best Coffee Press cup available May 06, 2010
I have owned several coffee presses, and this large cup version is the best of the "Press mug" breed.
It makes great coffee, keeps it hot for hours, and keeps the ground coffee out of your teeth. There are very minor flaws in the finish of the metal, but overall, it is still the best.
If you are already sold on Press Coffee, this will only improve your opinion of it.
I highly Recommend this cup.

Only one person in the family drinks coffee. I got this since it seemed simple to use and you don't need a lot of gadgets to get it working. The mug comes with two tops; a press and a standard drink lid with a sliding cover. The press part is awesome. The mesh is pretty fine, but I wouldn't push your luck and grind the beans too fine. Also, the press top has a secondary screen so you can drink without removing the lid keeping in the heat. The standard lid is spill proof, but if you tilt the mug it does leak through the sliding cover even if it's closed. Also, the slider sticks and drink has a tendency to pool on the standard lid so if you close it, it splashes up in your face. I'm sure once the lid is used more, it will slide easier preventing this. Downfall to both lids is they are a friction gasket to prevent leaks. They don't screw on. If this falls the lids will probably fall off and spill everywhere. The dual wall vacuum sealed stainless steel keeps the heat in nicely. It was warm after about 60 min. It depends on if you like your coffee lava hot or warm. I'm sure you can extend that time if you preheat the mug with hot water and let it sit for 5-10 min before making your drink. It was cold when I put the hot water in for the press.

Everybody in my family has one of these. We were only using our coffee maker to heat the water, finally put it away and installed a hot water dispenser at the sink. The only downside is that the base is too large for a cup holder. Anyone that I work with is impressed when on the train (I am an engineer) I get out the JetBoilJetboil Personal Cooking System (Black) to heat the water and then use my Liquid Planet Boot cut mug to make the best coffee that will stay fresh and hot for hours.
