The Bodum Assam double wall tea glass is 6.5 ounces in size and can be used for cold or warm beverages. Its unique design is appealing to the eye when filled with your favorite beverage. With its double layer of borosilicate glass it appears as though the liquid is 'floating' within the glass. They will not sweat when filled with a cold beverage, so you will not have to use a coaster. The double wall creates a thermal effect, helping to keep your cold drinks cold and your hot drinks hot for longer periods of time. These mouth blown glasses are an exciting product for any home, restaurant, and cafe and are a definite conversation piece. Bodum’s insulated glassware is made from durable Borosilicate glass. Borosilicate glass is a strong heat-resistant glass traditionally used to make scientific lab glass. Stronger than traditional “soda-lime” glass, borosilicate can be used for everything from drinkware to cookware. Borosilicate glass substitutes boron oxide in place of the soda and lime used in everyday glassware. The boron oxide acts as the glue holding the silicate together. Due to small size of boron particles, the glass is held together tighter, resulting in a stronger, lighter glass. Borosilicate glass doesn’t need to be as thick as traditional glass to be just as strong due to the bonding capability boron oxide. Borosilicate is simply a different type of glass that is resistant to temperature swings and scratching. Because the particles are held together so tightly, borosilicate glass is resistant to temperature swings, In addition to being dishwasher safe borosilicate will not become cloudy over time; you can rest assured that after 1,000 cycles, the glass will be as clear as the day you bought it.

Love the glasses Jul 19, 2010
All I can say is both my husband and I love the bodum glasses. We have been using them for several years, and yes they must be treated with care and there has been breakage, but it has not stopped us from replacing our favorite coffee, tea and beer glasses. We will use them until they are no longer being produced. I keep extras just in case, in fact I just received four replacement glasses today from Amazon and I have ordered four more.

I ordered these 2 glasses along with my odea 2 go espresso machine. They are very nice looking and light. But....
They both got cracked and broken. With not explanation. One of it i just heard a cracking noise and broke in two. It must have been the pressure that build inside the vacuum wall. It's either poor design or just a bad batch.

My mother and I use these for tea and coffee. She has arthritis real bad in her hands but she can hold these much better than a regular coffee cup. We put them in the dishwasher and have had not problems. I highly recommend these for drinkers that like their beverage to stay hot.

When I first considered buying these glasses I looked at reviews. A number of the early reviews were quite negative. ("easily broken," "even dropping ice cubes in them results in breakage," etc). I have had two of these glasses for six months. I broke the first one by dropping it on the floor. duh it is glass. The one I didnt break is absolutely wonderful. I use it for coffee. Even microwaving cool coffee. I also use it for my beloved scotch over ice. Keeps the drink cold. I also just love the way the glass fits in my hand. My husband keeps walking off with it so here I am ordering some more.
