Mine cracked Mar 23, 2010 Pros: The kettle is attractive and boils quickly. The handle doesn't get hot, and the whistle is a good volume.
Cons:
- Mine just cracked! I did nothing wrong, it just cracked while heating on my electric burner. Seeing as how it's a KETTLE, this is a dealbreaker.
- Bodum has NO WARRANTY for glass. Since almost everything they sell is glass, not much is warrantied.
- There is unattractive writing all over the kettle that can't be removed.
- The blue plastic whistle piece must be removed before pouring. I burned myself a little when I pulled it out the first time--you have to be careful. Having it be a separate piece also makes it easy to lose.
- Although the lid seals tightly, the downside is that you have to push pretty hard to get it snug.
So, if you have $60 to buy a new pretty kettle every few months when yours breaks, be my guest.
To replace my Brokum, I'm going to buy an electric kettle with a precise temperature control. That'll last forever, boil very quickly, and give me the right temperature water for green teas without screwing around with thermometers or guessing.

cute but not worth it Dec 09, 2009 I used this pot only one time on a gas stove and it cracked...very sad.

Do NOT buy this kettle Sep 27, 2009 This kettle lasted me all of 2 months before it developed a crack all the way across the bottom. I followed all the directions (no high heat, no abrasives) and so am quite sure that it was just defective. Two emails to the company yielded exactly 0 responses. They know they are selling a bum product and just don't want to hear about it. By the way, I bought this despite the negative reviews because I owned the previous version of this kettle and it was fabulous(it got broken trying to ship it in a long-distance move). Bottom line : DO NOT BUY THIS KETTLE

Electric Burners! Jul 30, 2009 - with electric you need a wire coil in between the pot & the burner - which are easy enough to make from a coat hanger if you do not have one. One star only to catch readers and reviewers!

Unsafe Jul 23, 2009 I'd been coveting this water kettle for quite some time and was excited to receive it as a gift. I used it according to directions almost daily for two months. Then it cracked on the bottom. Thankfully, I was right next to the stove and heard it and was able to turn off the burner before more damage occurred. I was so disappointed.
I contacted Bodum via e-mail and asked that they replace the kettle and they responded right away that they would. The representative also stressed that there is no warranty and that it would be a one time replacement only. The problem was that it never arrived. I contacted them again twice more via e-mail and even tried their 800# which just rang and rang - no voicemail, nothing. I decided to wait awhile and try again after our vacation. I finally got a hold of them via the 800# and they indeed replaced the kettle but I find that I'm reluctant to use it because I'm afraid it's going to break again.
In view of my experience and others here I'm going to report this product to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. Do yourself and favor and buy an old Pyrex coffee pot off of Ebay. That's what I did.
